The Buzz That Beat the Distance One toy, one tap, and 2,000 miles suddenly stopped mattering. She still remembers the first buzz.

The gift arrived for Christmas last year, but the excitement didn't happen then. We lived 2,000 miles apart. He spent the holidays with another partner, completely out of communication for 2 weeks. So while he was making memories elsewhere, my present sat waiting.

It would be a month before we were finally in the same hotel room, and by then the anticipation had done half the work for the toys themselves. When I finally opened it, I had my first Lovense toy in hand: the Lush Mini.

I'd never heard of Bluetooth remote-controlled toys until December of last year, when he made the suggestion. And hearing about something and holding it in your hand are two very different things. It was bigger than I imagined (I'm very small), smooth, almost delicate. And then it hit me what it actually meant. He could control this... from anywhere. From his bed, 2,000 miles away, on a random Tuesday when I'm grading papers. In fact, I would soon learn, anyone could control that toy... and I could control others.

If you don't know... there's something VERY unsexy about two people hunched over their phones downloading apps and pairing Bluetooth devices to try to get off. And then it finally connected.

The first buzz was gentle, tentative. He was testing it like he was turning a dial on something precious. I watched his face as he watched mine, and I could see the exact moment it clicked for him. That's me doing that... from my phone... to her body.

He started slow, cycling through the default patterns, and every time the vibration shifted, he was watching me. Watching my breath catch and my thighs press together. Watching me try to keep a straight, stoic face and fail completely.

The physical gift was really nice. But the reality was that it gave me more... the space to explore my body safely. A community here I would otherwise never have found. A very important connection that I may never have known existed.

He bought me a toy, and accidentally handed me a whole new world. Now I have a collection of 7 toys, a better understanding of my own pleasure, and so so much more. In fact, you are all part of that gift and I'm so grateful to have received this and be here with you all. ❤️
